Disclaimer: To me a dupe is something that takes the look of the item but DOES NOT try to pass themselves off as being the authentic item. As a reminder I DO NOT condone and WILL NOT be posting exact replicas of these shoes. The Miu Miu logo is definitely trademarked so I respect their IP and do not post these items. Also replica is just a nicer word for counterfeit or fake. No one “needs” these shoes so honestly its better to not buy them then to buy fakes.
Okay now that I am done with that rant (which I feel I always need to include) here is what I am looking for in a dupe:
- White sole/ dark brown sole (though I personally prefer the white sole);
- Brown leather or suede exterior;
- Flat sole; and
- Overall a more sleek elongated toe than a true boat shoe (which is why they seem more like a moccasin to me).
The Ones I Bought
If you knew me in high school or college you knew I loved a good Sperry. So when I saw the Miu Miu ones (and that fact that they were sold out everywhere) I immediately went to Sperry’s website to see what they had. And I found the perfect pair. They are called the slim boat shoes and hit on all the things I want in a dupe. They are $100 and I found them to be true to size.
A Fun Collab
If you want something a little different Sperry also did a collab with Aritzia. This version does not have a white sole but comes with some fun laces. They also are $20 more than the non-collab version and come in at $120.
Similar Vibes But Cheaper
These Steve Madden Sag Boat Shoes are the cheapest on the list as they are on clearance for $85. Even with being the most reasonable pair they are still real leather and I think they would break in nicely. They also come in metallic silver if that is more your vibe.
The French Version
In true Sezane fashion the Caroline Loafer is always out of stock in my size but they were the first pair of boat shoes I eyed for a while. But after waiting for them to restock in my size for a month, I gave up. I have had Sezane shoes that are comfortable and some that are the opposite of comfortable so I am not sure where these would fall on that spectrum. But I can say the leather quality has always been nice.
